Why Calories Taste Delicious
Scientific American has an article on fascinating research that offers up evidence that our brains can not only sense how many calories are in our food, but actually reward us when we eat higher calorie foods, suggesting that, “When it comes to eating, need and desire aren’t so separate after all.” While we’ve known for decades that the old “calories in equals calories out” formula, while technically correct, is a gross simplification, we’re learning ever more that when it comes to eating, and obesity, the picture is more complicated than we ever imagined.
