Neural Gourmet relaunched!

Over the past couple of months I’ve been busy revamping Neural Gourmet. Among the big changes are a move away from Drupal to Wordpress and a more modern, magazine style layout.

This is actually something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. However I never found the time. I was committed to using Drupal, which is a hugely powerful content management system that approaches being a web application programming framework. There’s almost nothing you can’t do with it should you wish to invest the time and effort and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it for someone looking to build a powerful, dynamic website. I had neither the time nor the will though and thus Wordpress which does exactly what I needed it to do with very little time or effort involved on my part. In short, Wordpress just works and at this stage of my life I tend to value “just works” over “power” any day.

I’ve copied over some of the more popular blog posts from Neural Gourmet 1.0 as well as a couple of my favorites just to initially populate the new layout. All of your old URLs will still work, they’ll just redirect you to the archives site at http://archives.neuralgourmet.com which is where the first version of Neural Gourmet will continue to live in perpetuity. I hope you enjoy this new version of Neural Gourmet.

The new site looks great!  I myself use Wordpress and like it quite a bit. It’s easy to use, has lots of plugins and is very adaptable.

Thanks! I’ve used Wordpress for some other projects, notably the food blog my partner and I write (when we have the time — we do it for fun). I’ll be adding Gaytheist Agenda to the blogroll of course. There’s still a lot of little things to get caught up on.

I like this layout better. Nicely done.

Thanks Woodrowfan. Things aren’t entirely done yet but it’s getting there. Also, like I said, if there’s interest we’ll bring the forums back.
